World maps do not show what they are supposed to show. If you look carefully at any world map, the one shown above for example, you will see that Greenland is almost as big as Africa. And this is not true. Africa is almost 14 times bigger than Greenland (Fig. 1).

The same thing happens with Alaska which on world maps appears much bigger than Mexico. But this is not true either.

Actually, Mexico covers an area of 1,972,550 square kilometers (758,449 sq mi) whereas Alaska is 254,696 square kilometers (586,400 sq mi), so Mexico is larger by almost 50%.

So, what is wrong with world maps?

To begin with, there is the obvious problem of transposing the roundness of the Earth on a flat surface, i.e., going from a 3D to a 2D dimension.

But could world maps be used for political purposes? Is there a hidden hand trying to hide something they do not want us to see?

Do you know the story of the Bermeja Island in the Gulf of Mexico?

This island used to belong to Mexico as various old maps have shown (Fig. 2). But Bermeja Island was conveniently erased from modern maps for political and economic reasons in 2009. In other words, Bermeja island simply vanished from the surface of the Earth.

But according to some experts Bermeja Island still there. Other investigators indicate that this island was destroyed by the United States.

Some Mexicans who have been investigating the disappearance of Bermeja Island state that this matter has to do with petroleum.

By taking control of Bermeja Island which belonged to Mexico, or stealing this island as expressed by some Mexicans, the United States "gained" an oil reserve of 22,000,000,000 barrels., according to Rogelio Velázquez.

This is just one example. There are more cases of vanishing islands from maps similar to Bermeja Island.

Now you know that world maps do not show what they should show or cannot show. Or why the fuck not say that they - the hidden hand - can lie to us via world maps.

World maps can definitely be used as political tools.

Let us find out some more about world maps (Videos 1-3):
