A lot of people want to know who owns British Petroleum. We have found an article which will give readers an idea of BP´s owners and therefore the money power it wields. It tells who owns what, where it is and how much each owner has.
It very important to know this information because BP is the company behind the recent Deep Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and also because this corporation has got a lot of money invested in genomics ventures with the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI), the laboratory that created the first artificial life form nicknamed Synthia (Mycoplasma laboratorium), a project which took 12 years of research and 40 million dollars to achieve (Fig. 1).
Figure 1. The first synthetic organism, Synthia (Mycoplasma laboratorium). Source: The Synthetic Bestiary. |
BP has an investment alliance with the JCVI to develop new microbes with laboratory created genomes to be injected along with nutrients into prospected oil reservoirs. These GM critters would then multiply deep down in the well which would result in improved flow of gas and oil out of the reservoir and of course also in a lot more profit. This process is called Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR) (Video 1).
Video 1. Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR).
It does not matter how you look at MEOR, this process is messy, for it uses other nasty chemicals and surfactants which if spilled are harmful to the environment, wildlife and humans.
So make sure you don´t go jacking around too much with your car. The less you use your tonne of iron, tin and plastic (your vehicle), the less you will contaminate Mother Nature and the more your grandchildren will thank you for it in the future.
Let us hope this fucking oil craziness (Video 2) croaks soon so that Nature can reestablish its balance for the sake of all of the inhabitants on planet Earth.
Video 2. Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
But before we sign off we should mention one thing. Here is one big problem. What would it happen if these GM microbes used in MEOR escaped into the environment and started eating out carbon-based life forms? Since we humans are carbon-based life creatures, we would be in deep trouble. Hereby lies the danger.
Man (Homo insapiens) is really fucking crazy!
Some people suspect these GM microbes are already creating havoc amongst animals and crops in the US, particularly those microorganisms that were used to clean up (eat) the mess left by the Deep Horizon oil spill (Video 3).
Video 3. Venter synthetic bacteria preying on more than just oil?
BP is playing God. It is trying to fool Mother Nature. And you cannot fool Mother Nature and get away with it. Nature always punishes and when she does she hits very hard indeed. Mother Nature is the boss!
Anyhow, here is the article taken verbatim from Corporate Watcher for your information:
