Tourists go nuts taking pictures in the City of London´s north-west corner: Smithfield. They want to capture every bit of the monuments, old buildings, gardens or whatever has been put there as fodder for the globe trotting human cattle.

But their cameras, ipods or tablets will not be able to capture the macabre essence hidden under this place.

Under Smithfield´s postal images are buried some of the cruelest crimes committed in the history of England.

Sir William Wallace (1270-1305), a member of the Scottish nobility who became one of the main leaders during the Wars of Scottish Independence, was sent to hell here.

According to Wikipedia (2014), William Wallace was stripped naked and dragged through the city at the heels of a horse to the Elms at Smithfield. He "was hanged, drawn and quartered  — strangled by hanging, but released while he was still alive, emasculated, eviscerated  and his bowels burnt before him, beheaded, then cut into four parts."

This is just one example of the bloody history of this place located in the financial centre of the world, at least the visible one.

If you want to know the dark secrets hidden inder this blood-stained UK´s spot, Mark Windows and Mad Scottsman will take on a tour (Video 1):
