MINING HIGH TECH CRAP: CELL PHONE RECYCLING IN GERMANY

Like the saying goes "one man´s trash is another man´s treasure". So it is with the old cell phones in Germany. 

Some entrepreneurs are mining high tech crap in Deutschland in order to get the metals (copper, gold, silver), rare earths and other materials out of the old cell phones (Video 1).

Now, do not be fool it they try to tell you this industry is "green" or "sustainable". Far from it. 

Although it is a good idea to recycle these gadgets and saves resources and the environment gets less fucked up, it still takes energy to get the metal scraps. 

Looking at it from another perspective, it seems more like some sort of good pacifier to keep consumers content.

Anyway, it is "better than nothing", from the consumer perspective.

Mon Capitaine... And to think that many of these cell phones were probably never used or if otherwise, they were more likely used to try to get some sweet candy, i.e. attempting to maximise genes (genital big bangs), or to chit chat piles of bullshit.

Oui, mon ami. More and more people are becoming disconnected from themselves and in their disconnection, they lose contact with what it really is important in life. So they try to reconnect to something or someone and that´s when phones come in handy to them. 

And big companies with their crew of experts do know a lot about human behaviour to make practically anyone connect directly or indirectly to their greedy deep pockets, mon ami.
