Back in the early 1960s, when the Jetsons (los Supersónicos) were in its heyday, we used to be bombarded with crap such as that in the "year 2000, everybody would have flying cars", that in the "year 2000, cancer would be history because scientists would have already found a cure for it", that in the "year 2000, man would have colonies on Mars", and many other similar future forecasts.
We are now in the year 2015 and people are still driving ridiculous farting earthbound cars and cancer is still chewing up people.
Not only that, both - cars and cancer - have become multi-Billion dollar industries today. Indeed!
No one can predict the future.
But one thing is for sure. The way we are going will only take us over the cliff.
According to some experts, here is a worst case scenario (Video 1), in which strangely enough New York City is saved from destruction, of what might happen to our home sweet home Earth should we continue on the antibiospherical track we have taken:
Earth 2100
How will world look at 2100?To change our future, first we must imagine it... It's an idea that most of us would rather not think about -- that within the next century, life as we know it could come to an end. Our civilization could crumble, leaving only traces of modern human existence behind. It seems outlandish, extreme, even impossible. But according to cutting edge scientific research, its a real possibility -- unless we make drastic changes now. [whatyoucanhave via YouTube]

Knowing how man is, being such a lover of shit, whoever or whatever is behind this documentary (Video 1) probably was too soft on man´s future downfall.
Our future might well be a bloody mess or something worse.
Nonetheless, we all should keep in mind that we are building the future today.

What we do today, right now, may have tremendous repercusions in the future.
In a way, the future is already here but we do not see it because we are too damn busy tearing up what it does not seem to be ourselves although it IS ourselves, for everybody else is you and you are everybody else, human and nonhuman.

It is hight time we come out of our fucking selfish shells to see beyond our own noses!
By now, we all should know what to do.
One grain at a time...
See you later alligators!
