In any big city in the United States, if you want to escape the noise and rush on the streets you can go to a park for a while. But chances are you will still find other people there.
Attractive females trying to relax in a park might find the opposite. They may encounter a Pleistocene male desperate to maximise his genes. He might harass them and even ask them for a lay in a vulgar way.
The best way to find a resting place before you kick the bucket to get ready for the final resting place is a cemetery.
These places are usually well kept. They are gardens in the warm months and in Autumn the trees dress up with their best colours. Wildlife such as squirrels can be seen year round.
Moreover, cemeteries are like islands where mystiriously the noise from the city does not penetrate them. If you do not mind being with the dead for a while, you will indeed find solace.
But this is for a short while until you get your bearings anew to continue living in the cement jungle.
Now, some Filipinos have taken this to a different level. They do not go to cemeteries to find some solace but to find a real place to live. Yes, to find a place to live.
Many people are abandoning the countryside and head for the city searching for a better life in the Philippines. But some of them have no luck and end up on the streets with nothing.
But Filipinos are very resourceful folks. So, they have turned cemeteries into housing complexes. They literally live with the dead!
This is just one of the many surprises waiting for you in the Phillipines. This land is fully packed with surprises.
