Kinmen
is an island that belongs to Taiwan (Fig. 1). It is just 2 km off the coast of
mainland China. This is the place where the ultimate
confrontation between the United States and the People´s Republic of China (PRC) may one day take place. The winner of this battle will set the rules of
the game in the 21st Century.

Chinese have hundreds of missiles deployed on the Fujian coast pointing to Taipei (Taiwan). The PRC considers Taiwan a rebel province and has never given up the dream of reunification. The situation is tense year round, in some cases war seemed imminent.
The only reason why China has not already invaded Taiwan is because the United States´ Navy and Air Force are always on the alert to prevent such a move. We have to keep in mind that Taiwan and the United States have a complex business relationship, too much is at stake.
China is bursting with money and has become the banker of many Western nations, including the United States. Business and greediness have a tendency of creating strange partnerships indeed!
Both countries, the PRC and the USA are like two giants with their hands at each other´s throats. If one giant tightens his grip, the other one does the same thing. They are chocking each other to death.
Such are the strange relationships of these two powerful titans, the biggest consumers of Mother Nature´s flesh, grand masters in ecovampirism.
Both giants have their feet planted in the 21st Century but behave like hominids with brains that have just come out of the Pleistocene!
Despite the sophistication both are primitive beasts, heirs of a 200.000 year old neuronal kit, with a very long history of chopping heads, and the hidden killer can surface with the tiniest scratch (Video 1).
